The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011) Trailer

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) trailer has premiered online, teasing David Fincher‘s upcoming thriller and introducing us to its sinister mystery plot and impeccable visual style.

As the poster above implies the film based on Stieg Larsson’s internationally best-selling, same-titled novel hits theaters this winter on December 21.

Both the movie and the novel center on a murder mystery looking as far back as 40 years at the disappearance of Harriet Vanger, a scion of one of Sweden’s wealthiest families. After all these years, her aged uncle Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) continues to seek the truth. He hires Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), a crusading journalist recently trapped by a libel conviction, to investigate. He is aided by the pierced and tattooed punk prodigy Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara). Together they tap into a vein of unfathomable iniquity and astonishing corruption.

Those who have watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009) movie,  Swedish director Niels Arden Oplev’s acclaimed adaptation, don’t need to worry because this 2011 production of the same story is not a remake of the former.

In fact, several key members of the Fincher production – including screenwriter Steve Zaillian and movie star Daniel Crag – have made it known that they refused to even watch Oplev’s film – so that their interpretation of Larsson’s story and characters would be truly their own.

Judging by this new The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trailer Fincher aims to deliver a kick-ass movie as we all want to see, right?
