For those who have been living under a rock and are less familiar with Forbes’s ratings its Celebrity 100 list is compiled according to the pretax income of Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars (from May 1, 2011 to May 1, 2012), i.e., meaning how often we see their names and faces on TV, in movies and online, as well as their social media following.

Taking all of the above in consideration, Jennifer Lopez is sitting atop the high-powered list, and it’s no surprise, especially after the banner professional year she’s had.

As Forbes reveals Lopez earned $52 million over the past year, and these earnings just add to her becoming a brand with ample avenues.

It’s irrelevant if she’s judging American Idol, filming a new music video, promoting a new film or chatting about her ex-husband Marc Anthony (or current boyfriend Casper Smart), it’s hard to miss Lopez in the world of entertainment these days.

Trailing behind Lopez is Oprah Winfrey, who brought in a whopping $165 million in the past year. It’s true that she ended her talk show in 2011, but Oprah has continued to create headlines thanks to her OWN cable network. She is not present on daily basis on the web, but her online presence was just enough to land right behind Lopez on the Forbes‘ list.

Teen star Justin Bieber comes at No. 3 on the list and while he’s only 18 years old, it’s no surprise that the entertainer and mogul-in-training  – he made $55 million in the last year. After all, he makes hundreds of millions of young fans scream on a daily basis.

Rihanna and Lady Gaga round out the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively, on Forbes‘ 2012 list. Other names that appeared on the celeb line-up include Kim Kardashian (No. 6, with $18 million and lots o’ divorce drama),  and the one and only Ashton Kutcher, whose personal divorce drama and professional gain with a role on Two and a Half Men helped him land on the list for the first time at No. 51, with $24 million in earnings.

Despite Katherine Jenkis’ salsa injury that placed her at the bottom of the leader-board, the Welsh classical singer and her professional partner, Mark Ballas, made it through to the finals.

Instead, coming as a shock to all DWTS fans Maria Menounos and Derek Hough were eliminated.

When it was revealed that Maria was the one in jeopardy, the crowd booed. Between the final two men — William Levy and Donald River — it was the NFL star that was also in the bottom.

“No matter which way this goes, it’s gonna suck,” host Tom Burgeron poignantly said.

Next, like a harsh Band-Aid rip, Maria was announced as the eliminated contestant. The very gracious “Extra” host said the competition taught her how strong she was and how to persevere. And before her send-off package rolled, Derek told the audience that Maria “is a champion of life.”

Lady Gaga, who is scheduled to perform in Jakarta next month, has been banned by the nation following protests from hardline Islamic critics.

Three Islamic groups expressed strong opposition to the singer’s concert set for June 3 in Indonesia’s capital of Jakarta.

While Ballas tweeted: “sry guys we couldn’t finish R dance. Katherine hurt her back, I tried my best not let her fall at the end,” adding that he hoped fans would still vote them into next week’s finale.

In a recent interview with CNN, the 42-year-old expressed his support for gay marriage, just as Obama did last week.

“I’ve always thought it as something that was still, um, holding the country back,” Jay-Z said, commenting on same-sex couples being unable to get married. “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. While it might not be groundbreaking to play a kid’s favorite music to wake him up, this three-year-old’s brother and sister get an adorable reaction when they rouse the toddler to Nirvana‘s Breed.

Three-year-old Kevin starts drumming to the beats before his eyes are even open.

“The last time we woke him up in the car, he got so grumpy and cranky. And since he loves this kind of music we just had to try a new method,” writes the Kevin’s older brother in the description for the video. Yes, he knows and “drums” Nirvana’s Breed word for word…beat for beat… that’s awesome.

Emily Maynard is back, and the single mom is not messing around!

In a newly-released preview of the new season, we see Emily go on romantic dates, fall in love … and quickly become incredulous.

Emily also brings another person into the mix – her six-year-old daughter Ricki.

And not all of the men are thrilled by that “baggage.”

But, when Emily Maynard needs to handle her business, she handles her mother-loving business.

And it looks as though she tells the guy who referred to Ricki as “baggage” to “get the f*** out” of the house.

We hope that’s really what goes down and not editing shenanigans. Because if so, Emily just gained like 1000 points on the awesome-o-meter.

AGT premiere: Fans embrace Howard Stern debut

For the seventh season premiere of America’s Got Talent all eyes were on the newest member of the judging panel, Howard Stern.

The other judges are Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel.

Even though it’s Howard Stern we are talking about, we didn’t find him controversial at all. Stern is definitely not afraid to buzz the acts he doesn’t love, but that’s fine with us.

And with the acts he does like, he’s very nice and respectful. He’s actually not disrespectful of the acts he doesn’t like and he’s pretty funny.

We also weren’t offended by anything he said. And it was funny to watch him dance with Sergio.

A longtime fan of the show, Stern is clearly enjoying himself as the newest judge – and it’s a refreshing change for NBC’s summer talent search.

“It is one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had in my life,” he said.

In response to Obama’s Tuesday interview with ABC in which he embraced the issue of gay marriage as a concept, Newsweek described Obama the country’s first gay president.

He also writes that the President has much in common with the gay community.

“He had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family,” Sullivan writes.

Following news of Obama’s endorsement, Sullivan wrote about the significance of the president’s announcement.

“Today Obama did more than make a logical step. He let go of fear,” Sullivan wrote.

“He is clearly prepared to let the political chips fall as they may. That’s why we elected him. That’s the change we believed in.”

Other magazines also paid tribute to Obama’s newly-announced support of same-sex marriage. The New Yorker’s upcoming cover features an image of the White House with rainbow-colored columns.
