“Lost in Translation” director Sofia Coppola married rocker Thomas Mars in Italy yesterday (27.08.11).
Village mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi, who performed the ceremony, explained the occasion “went well”.
He said: “Everything went well. It was simple, calm, in the garden. If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn’t have done it here. They chose to do it here because it’s here – it’s here that is beautiful.”
After the service, the newlyweds and the father of the bride, wearing a white linen suit and pink shirt, popped out of the palazzo briefly to greet onlookers. She was holding a glass of bubbly.
This is the second marriage for Coppola, who has two children, Roma, four, and 15-month-old Cosima with Thomas. She was previously married to fellow filmmaker Spike Jonze. The two divorced in 2003.
