Because we live in a world where celebrity death can be seen as a screenwriting opportunity, plans are underway for a Whitney Houston biopic just one week after family members laid her to rest with a private funeral.
And guess, who is rumored to play the late ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer? The one and only, Rihanna!
In 2011 “We found love” hitmaker turned down the opportunity to star in a remake of Houston’s quintessential film, The Bodyguard, explaining she wanted to challenge herself by playing someone other than a performer; later this year she’ll star as Petty Officer Raikes in Peter Berg’s Battleship.
And just to note: Houston was reportedly working on a biopic prior to her passing, so maybe this isn’t so rushed after all? Still seems sorta strange, if you ask me.
However if the rumor is true… My advice to the casting director would be to keep looking… as he has some big shoes to fill…!
